Activities

  • Park trip with Koda

Dog-related Tasks

  • Monthly simparicatrio dose given
  • Cleaned Ears
  • Supplemental food:
    • ~1/4 can Evanger’s Complements: Beef Flavor given in a Kong in her crate
  • Working on loose-leash walking throughout the day (i.e., every time the leash is on)
  • Successfully took out trash without Koda barking: rewarded with dried beef liver

Notes

  • Koda showed disinterest in the recently scented (upland waterfowl scent) retrieval dummies and a tennis ball during her exercise session at the park; she was fixated on her Chuckit! Ultra Squeaker Ball (medium) which was thrown using a generic plastic ball launcher
  • Koda was overstimulated and reactive during the first ~10 minutes of the park trip; she had be notably hyperactive during the day prior to the trip as well. While we were setting up there was a game of soccer going on between the baseball diamonds at said park, Koda was doing alright. Another dog handler arrived and began to play with their unleashed dog approximately 50 feet away. Koda then was over threshold, trembling in the legs, growling. Quickly she elevated to barking and lunging, as well as being practically unresponsive. I hurriedly packed up and moved us to another section of the park. By now the soccer game was finishing up but there was other dog handlers playing with their unleashed dogs in the line of sight where we had moved to that weren’t as visible previously. Koda remained fixated, growling, and occasionally barking while i finished setting up her long line. By the time it was done the other dog handlers had left and the rest of the trip went by without issue.
  • Observed Jordan periscoping from under her water bowl in the late-evening/night
