Activities
- Training session inside for the first bit, then transitioned to outside with her vest
- Silicone seal on the old 20 gallon, which I stripped and resealed to ensure it will hold water as an aquarium, is drying well despite how thickly I applied it. The Epoxy is still sticky in some places but should sand away hopefully
Dog-related Tasks
- Worked on heeling, inside and outside; with the spoon and peanut butter as well as her normal treats
- Worked on capturing her making eye contact while outdoors; maintaining focus while training outside
- Played tug for approx. 30 minutes with breaks and water before starting the training session
- Fed her dinner (her kibble which she has access to since the morning mixed with the dinner patty) in her crate with the door open
Reptile-related Tasks
- Washed Jordan, Gio, Sinai, and Deathboi’s water bowls and food bowls for the geckos
- Everyone got fed:
- Jordan – F/T Weaned Rat
- Gio – F/T Medium Mouse
- Sinai – 5 medium/small dubia roaches
- Deathboi – 6 small dubia roaches
- Dubia Roaches – roach chow, water crystals, and carrots
- The following took place between the last post and this one:
- Finished building the hardscape of the 40 gallon front opening tank, moved Sinai in
- Gio moved into Sinai’s old top opening 40 gallon
- Jordan moved into her 4x2x2
Notes
- I think I can and should move Koda’s bowl into her crate during the day now instead of where it was previously by her water dispenser in the dining room. However, she eats her dinner in her crate and today in the evening when she got hungry she was eating the left over kibble bits in her crate instead of going to the dining room where her bowl full of her kibble was. This is good because shes associating the crate with food which is positive but perhaps she is getting confused by the bowl staying in the dining room during the day. I’m going to switch it to the crate and see how she does.
- Koda was semi-distracted during our outdoor session. I’m not sure about the peanut butter spoon idea but she got a bit better at it by the end of the session so we did get a lot of reinforcement time in heel position.
- Jordan, Gio, and Sinai are all seeming healthy and happy in their new enclosures. Sinai was the last one to move into his finished redone enclosure, which is still a 40 gallon like his previous one but this one is front opening which will make feeding and handling him a lot easier on us both. Gio seems to be appreciating the switch from the soil like substrate he was on back to aspen, which I kept him on for his several month long quarantine period and he did well. He finished his shed after the switch, I only noticed he was in shed after I switched him if I had noticed before I wouldn’t have done it then, and it was healthy and intact. It only tore because I mishandled it and didn’t intend to keep it anyway (it was sitting out for days before it tore).
- This was the snakes and Sinai’s first feeding since moving into their enclosures and they all took their food well as normal which is good. Sinai’s 6th dubia roach got loose and I’m hoping he will find and eat it before it gets too big…
