Daily Post #2
Activities
- Trip to Dorris Ranch with Koda
Dog-related Tasks
- Worked on loose-leash walking throughout the day
- Practiced getting into heel and heeling for a few steps at a time including turns
- Worked on “visit” task while I was feeling disregulated; we are building the cue and increasing time (currently ~10-15 seconds)
- Hour long walk at the ranch, mostly she only had a check cord attached to her harness dragging on the ground. In the short portions of the walk where we were on paved and moderately trafficked paths we switched to an extendable leash for control
Reptile-related Tasks
- Fed Jordan: 15 g medium mouse — she typically eats a weaned rat but this feeding she is getting a smaller meal just as a boost to ensure she can tolerate her upcoming enclosure switch but still has energy for the two weeks she won’t eat following the move
Notes
- Koda did very well today; whatever hyperactive if not agitated energy she carried yesterday has subsided
- Need to work on Koda’s door manner’s
- Need to build “leave it” cue
- Koda is doing better about not instantly elevating to barking when she hears commotion outside; she will growl and tense up but stays quiet if we correct and redirect her
